Dodo
The Dodo pattern comes in two sizes (both are included)
Finished size: small 10" long, large 22" long
Paper Pattern pieces: 8 for each size.
The dodo has been extinct since 1681. There are no photographs, of course, and few surviving drawings of what they actually looked like, and a couple mounted specimens. Some report ashen gray feathers and some off-white. Some say black feet and beak, some say yellow. All drawings show stubby wings, incapable of flight and tail feathers that curl up over the back. Some drawings show bird feet like a chicken and others show web-feet like a duck. I have found the most effective material to simulate feathers is a medium shag or tufted fur fabric. Vinyl makes a good beak and feet, but is more difficult to sew than felt.
