Sloth
The Sloth pattern is 14" long
finished size: 14" long
Paper pattern pieces: 6
Three-toed sloths are slower than 2-toed, I'm told. They differ in the number of toes on the front feet; both have 3 toes on the back feet. Since sloths spend their lives hanging upside down, the fur lies from the feet to the back, so rain will run off. A long shag fur is most suitable, with a smooth fabric like velour for the face. Vinyl claws look most realistic, but felt is easier to sew. Some sloths have dark areas around the eyes, looking like a mask. Eyelids are optional, but make the animal look sleepy. It can hang from a branch or dowel or other fixture. I use clear fishline to sew through the toes and around the branch.
Kit: $26, —Kit contains the pattern, all fabrics for one sloth (gray shag fur, velour, vinyl, safety eyes, fishline for hanging, felt and embroidery thread for features. Fiberfil and tree branch are not included
Finished sloth: $60
